Still Image Editing For A Multimedia Project

Here’s a link to a multimedia project that uses stills and audio to tell a very complex and emotional story:

I Found the editing in this particularly striking, not just because of the images used but also how well they fit with Miller’s story. Some of the specific things that I noticed were:

-The juxtaposition of images from the war and at home creating a stark contrast

-The use of a black screen to build tension and provide pauses between sections of the story

-The use of images that contrasted with what Miller was saying, like the wedding photos when he was talking about his mixed feelings.

-The use of a famous picture (the Marlboro marine) to tell a much deeper and complex story.

-The mix of quick cuts between different photos and the slow transition between sequenced photos helped provide scene breaks between different sections

I too came across the use of the black screen to build tension and it works.

I agree. I liked the juxtaposition of images and the use of the black screen.
